Seasonal Pest Control in Virginia Beach & Hampton Roads | Pest Heroes
Year-Round Pest Control for Hampton Roads Homeowners
The warm, humid coastal climate of Hampton Roads means that pest activity never truly stops. While some pests are more active in certain seasons, the mild winters of Virginia Beach and Chesapeake allow many pest populations to remain active year-round. A reactive approach, treating pests only after you see them, is both more expensive and more disruptive than a proactive quarterly program.
Our seasonal pest control program provides continuous protection by maintaining a treated barrier around your home throughout the year. Each quarterly visit is timed to address the specific pest pressures of that season, ensuring that your home is always protected.
Our Seasonal Pest Calendar for Hampton Roads
Spring (March through May). Spring is the most active season for pest activity in Hampton Roads. Termites swarm, ants emerge in large numbers, and wasps begin building nests. Our spring treatment focuses on creating a strong exterior barrier before pest populations peak.
Summer (June through August). Summer brings mosquitoes, fire ants, and increased cockroach activity. Our summer treatment reinforces the exterior barrier and addresses any interior activity that has developed.
Fall (September through November). As temperatures drop, many pests begin seeking shelter inside homes. Rodents, spiders, and stink bugs are the primary fall concerns. Our fall treatment focuses on exclusion and interior crack-and-crevice treatments.
Winter (December through February). While pest activity slows in winter, it does not stop. Cockroaches, rodents, and overwintering insects remain active. Our winter treatment maintains the protective barrier and addresses any active issues.
Our Treatment Approach
We use Integrated Pest Management (IPM) principles, which means we use the least toxic effective solution for every situation. Our exterior treatments create a protective barrier around the foundation, entry points, and eaves of your home. Interior treatments are targeted to specific areas of activity, such as kitchens, bathrooms, and utility rooms. All of our products are EPA-registered and applied by VDACS-licensed technicians. We use odorless formulations whenever possible, and we will always provide specific instructions if any precautions are needed for your family or pets.
How much does quarterly pest control cost in Virginia Beach?
Most Hampton Roads homes fall in the range of $40 to $60 per month when billed quarterly, depending on home size, lot size, and service inclusions. We provide a free first quote based on your specific property. Quarterly is the most cost-effective option for a typical residential home, while bi-monthly and monthly plans are available for larger properties or homes with active issues.
What pests does the seasonal program cover?
The standard program covers ants, spiders, roaches, silverfish, centipedes, millipedes, earwigs, crickets, wasps and hornets at common entry points, and exterior monitoring for termites and rodents. Mosquito control and full rodent exclusion are available as add-ons because they require different treatment methods. Bed bugs and full termite treatment are handled as separate services.
Is it safe for pets and kids?
Yes. Our IPM approach minimizes broad chemical application and focuses on targeted treatments in zones pets and kids do not access (foundation perimeters, attics, crawl spaces, behind appliances). The materials we use are EPA-registered and labeled safe for residential use when applied correctly. Treated areas are dry and safe to walk on within a short window after each visit, and we walk you through what to expect at the first appointment.
What if I see pests between visits?
Free re-services. If pests come back between scheduled visits, we come back at no charge. This is included in every plan, no questions asked. Most homes do not need re-services after the first one or two quarterly cycles because the program is preventative, not reactive.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. There are no long-term contracts and no cancellation fees. Service continues as long as it is providing value. The only thing we ask is a heads up before the next scheduled visit so we can adjust the route. Most customers stay multi-year because the cost is low and the alternative (dealing with pest issues piecemeal) is more expensive and more stressful.
