Termite Inspection and Control in Virginia Beach | Pest Heroes
Virginia is ranked among the top states in the nation for subterranean termite activity, and the warm, humid coastal climate of Hampton Roads creates ideal conditions for these destructive insects year-round. A single subterranean termite colony can contain over a million workers, silently consuming the wooden structure of your home for years before any visible damage appears. The average homeowner spends thousands of dollars on termite repairs, damage that is rarely covered by standard homeowner’s insurance.
At Pest Heroes, we have been protecting Hampton Roads homes from termites for over 20 years. Our VDACS-licensed inspectors and technicians provide comprehensive termite solutions, from initial inspection through treatment and long-term warranty protection.
Our Termite Inspection Process
A thorough inspection is the foundation of effective termite control. Our licensed inspectors conduct a detailed visual examination of all accessible areas of your property, including the interior and exterior foundation walls, the crawlspace or basement, the garage and any attached slabs, all accessible wooden structural members, and exterior wood features such as decks, porches, and fences.
We look for all indicators of termite activity, including mud tubes along foundation walls, damaged or hollow-sounding wood, discarded termite wings near windows and doors, and live termites. We document every finding and provide a detailed written report. For real estate transactions, we provide a standard Wood-Destroying Insect (WDI) report that meets all Virginia lender requirements, typically delivered the same day as the inspection.
Termite Treatment Options
If an active infestation or evidence of prior activity is found, we design a customized treatment plan based on the specific conditions of your property. We use only EPA registered termiticides applied by licensed technicians.
Liquid Barrier Treatment. This is the most common and immediately effective treatment method. We apply a continuous liquid termiticide barrier around the perimeter of your foundation, creating a treated zone that is undetectable to termites. When termites attempt to enter through the soil, they contact the termiticide and carry it back to the colony, leading to colony elimination. We use Termidor, the most trusted termiticide brand in the industry, which has been proven effective in millions of treatments.
Termite Baiting Systems. For properties where a liquid treatment is not practical, or as a supplement to a liquid treatment, we install termite bait stations in strategic locations around the perimeter. Termites find the bait, feed on it, and share it with the colony. The active ingredient in the bait disrupts the molting process of termites, leading to gradual colony elimination. Bait stations are monitored regularly to track activity and confirm colony elimination.
Termite Warranty and Annual Service Agreement
Our termite treatments come with a renewable annual service agreement. Under this agreement, we conduct an annual re-inspection of your property. If termites return while your agreement is active, we will re-treat the affected area at no additional cost to you. Our service agreements are fully transferable to new homeowners, which can be a valuable selling point when you put your home on the market.
Signs You May Have Termites
Termites are called “silent destroyers” because they can cause significant damage before homeowners notice any signs. Common warning signs include mud tubes running along your foundation walls or crawlspace piers, wood that sounds hollow when tapped, paint that appears to be bubbling or uneven on walls, small piles of what looks like sawdust (which is actually termite frass), discarded wings near windows, doors, or light fixtures in the spring, and visible damage to wood trim, flooring, or structural members.
If you notice any of these signs, call us immediately at 757-367-8342 for a free inspection.
Frequently Asked Questions About Termites
Q: How much does termite treatment cost in Virginia Beach?
A: The cost of termite treatment depends on the size of your home, the severity of the infestation, and the treatment method used. We provide free inspections and detailed written estimates before any work begins. Contact us at 757-367-8342 to schedule your free inspection.
Q: How long does termite treatment take?
A: A liquid barrier treatment for an average-sized home typically takes 2 to 4 hours. Bait station installation takes approximately 1 to 2 hours. We will provide a specific time estimate when we conduct your inspection.
Q: Can I do termite treatment myself?
A: Over-the-counter termite products are not effective against established subterranean termite colonies. Subterranean termites live deep in the soil and require professional-grade termiticides applied by licensed technicians to achieve effective control. DIY treatments may temporarily reduce surface activity while the colony continues to grow and cause damage.
